The Medical Defence Union (MDU) is the largest medical defence union in the United Kingdom, and is one of three major medical defence organisations (MDOs) in the country. The MDU was established in 1885 and was the first of its kind in the world. Members are doctors, dentists or other healthcare professionals; the MDU provides legal support should their clinical competence be questioned. It used to have members outside the United Kingdom, including in Singapore and Hong Kong, but withdrew from these commitments in the late-1990s. The MDU offers indemnity for clinical negligence claims for its members. The main competitor of the MDU is the Medical Protection Society (MPS). Other competitors include Premium Medical Protection (PMP) and the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS). As of 2013 the President of the MDU was Dr Peter Williams and the Chief Executive was Dr Christine Tomkins.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.themdu.com/~/media/Files/MDU/PDFs/2011%20annual%20report%20and%20accounts.pdf )〕 ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Medical Defence Union」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
